While it might seem like a fairly simple task, there are a lot of elements that go into hauling a trailer efficiently and safely but it looks like this guy missed that memo during this outing, at least. From hooking it up to proper responses when it starts to sway, there is a lot that you need to know to stay safe on the road out there and neglecting any piece of information is enough to get you hurt.

When following what appears to be just another motorist barreling down the highway, this trucker ends up being in for quite the surprise. As we can see on his dash cam, the driver hauling the family camper slowly starts to sway back and forth, getting closer and closer to disaster before he finally loses control of his truck and trailer as it goes into a nasty sway and eventually ends up rolling into the dirt on the side of the road. Luckily for the driver here, the trucker saw the whole thing happen and pulled over to lend a helping hand because otherwise, who knows how long he would have been left sitting in the desert.

Check out the video below to see it all happen from the trucker’s point of view. The comments on YouTube offer up a variety of solutions to this driving nightmare, but in the heat of the moment, such solutions might not be in the ballpark of reality. It looks like maybe he tried to correct the trailer a little bit too much. Most who have experienced this kind of towing before will tell you that, in a situation like this, it’s best to slowly release the gas, not hitting the brakes, while holding the wheel steady and hoping that the trailer will be able to correct itself.
